About Me
I live in the village of Long Buckby where I grew up. I am fortunate to be fulfilling my life long dream working as an artist from my studio at home.
From earliest childhood I have drawn and painted at every opportunity, and was very fortunate to have shown promise from a young age. My portraits have been particularly well commended, and I won many awards and prizes at school - which resulted in my work always being on display on the school walls. I was encouraged to pursue an art career by my art teacher, Mrs Pamela Fullwood, and several teachers commisioned paintings.
I was steered into teaching - which has proved a steady and useful background, but I have always strived to be an artist.
I find it rewarding and satisfying to have the chance now to immerse myself in my painting - continuing to learn about expressing myself and mastering my craft.
I studied Art + English at St Marys University College and have taught in several schools and colleges both in London and Northamptonshire, setting up and running successful Art and English departments along the way.
I have painted, exhibited and sold work in many local and national venues since graduation, and continue to study all aspects of art wherever possible. Teaching adults with enthusiasm for painting is a real pleasure, and I am committed to the therapeutic benefits of painting and self expression.
My works are in an extensive range of media - oil, acrylic, watercolour & mixed media. I enjoy all subject matter - landscape, seascape, portraiture & wildlife.
I also undertake commisions for many subjects.
Recently I have mastered the technique of fired stained glass painting, and of creating icons - having studied intensively with masters of the media.
My work is shown and sold extensively - locally, in London and in Ireland and a client base is now being established in Australia.
